Course Description
The Technical Discussion covers the Unique Electrical requirements of healthcare facility design, this included Code requirements for Power distribution, code requirements for wiring protection in patient care areas, code rules for receptacle at patient area and code rules for Grounding and bonding @ patient area. This will partly discuss the operation and maintenance of equipment in Health care electrical system.

Knowledge | • Able to understand the difference between healthcare electrical design and commercial / industrial plant design. • Able to understand the unique code requirements in healthcare design. • Understand the different power distribution requirements, materials and installation procedure used. |
Skills | • The participant will learn how to apply properly the code and rules requirements in designing healthcare electrical system. • They will be able to adapt the basic skills in operation and maintenance of facility equipment using of electrical instrument. |
Abilities | • Analysis and determination of electrical system design if it is compliance with health care code rules requirements. • Ability to classify and review the existing health care installation set up. |
Course Outline:
1. Introduction to Electrical design for Health care system.
2. Health care Design and Code Requirements.
2.1 - Code Rules for wiring protection in patient care.
2.2 – Code Requirements for Power Distribution system ( Life safety, Critical branch and Equipment branch system )
3. Brief Discussion of Electrical Layout Plan, Load Calculation, Voltage Drop Calculation, System Fault Calculation, System Protection and selective Coordination, Grounding system and Fire pumps
4. Overview on Different Heath care electrical Facility equipment and Medical equipment devices.
